I'm Going to be a Speaker at Stationery Academy!

November 22, 2013

Yep! You read that right! I am so unbelievably honored (and to be honest, still a little shocked) that I was asked to be an expert at the next Stationery Academy. The sold out, first session of 2014 will be held in Nashville! I couldn't be more excited to drive 15 minutes to stay in a hotel and pretend like I'm "out of town" with 20 something other creative paper-preneurs! There will be a second session held in Chicago and seats are still available, but hop on it because they are going fast! (Register here!)

I'm thrilled to be included as a speaker alongside these all-stars - SA hosts, Whitney English, Natalie Chang, Jennifer Faught and fellow expert, Nicole Spitulnik of Libby Lane Press! I can't wait to soak up all they have to share and to hug the necks of all the new and familiar faces! February will be here before we know it! ;)

Featured | Southern Living December 2013

November 13, 2013
Remember last week when I shared that we might possibly be included in Southern Living's Holiday Gift Guide? Well - IT HAPPENED!!! Our gold foil Sweet as a Peach print was included in their round up for the 'Ladies On Your List'. Doesn't she look so pretty! I absolutely love how they styled every page of the gift guide and I can't wait to look up all the other amazing artists, designers and makers! I am honored and absolutely thrilled to be included! Fun little fact - my Grandpa Gene used to print this magazine! How awesome? :)

AND - as if that isn't exciting enough... A few pages over, our Southern Sayin' Pencil Set made it into the magazine as well! They landed in the round-up for "Everyone Else" on your list! Again, I just love how they styled the page and I think our pencils look fabulous!

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me text messages, emails, or has left comments on my blog! It means so much to me and I'm so thankful and grateful for every single one of you who are following along with my journey! I can't believe I get to wake up every day and do what I love! This year has been one for the books and as always, I know the best is yet to come!

I hope y'all have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday! :)

Pinch Me! Southern Living's Great Big Christmas Giveaway!

November 7, 2013
I think I visit this giveaway daily just to see if it's really true. Am I actually a part of the Southern Living Great Big Christmas Giveaway? YES!!! I am so excited and honored to be December 18th! You can enter daily to win a number of fabulous prizes, including our gold foil Sweet as a Peach print and  Southern Sayin' pencils!

I debated sharing this next piece of information incase it doesn't pan out how I hope it does, but because I am an over-sharer and this was a moment I was actually ready when "Martha" called, here it goes! I was contacted (through Etsy!) back in August by an Editor at Southern Living. She was interested in my Southern Sayin' Pencil Set for their HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE in the MAGAZINE and I kindly directed her to my newly launched website! I was so excited (understatement of the century) but tried not to get my hopes up. A couple weeks went by without hearing anything, and THEN.

I received an EMAIL from the editor requesting product so they could photograph in-house. I about fell out of my chair! She asked for my Heavens to Betsy print, Sweet as a Peach print (in all colors and sizes) and my Southern Sayin' pencil set. I sent those along with a few others, ya know - just in case! THEN, I received a second email asking if I'd be interested in being included in the SL Christmas Giveaway. Um, hello - YES! It all happened so quickly and I am beyond excited to see the giveaway up and online!

If there could possibly be a negative to this whole opportunity it would be that even though I provided them with all the necessary information, somewhere along the line it got mixed up. Mainly, my website is www.stephaniecreekmur.com and while the one listed will get you to a SC website, it's the Big Cartel site, not the new Shopify one we just launched on Monday! We're working on getting people who visit there redirected and I'm hoping it will get worked out on the giveaway, but regardless I am so thankful to have been included!

UPDATE* Great news! We were able to get the information updated on the giveaway and now people will be directed to our new site! We also had another product added to the giveaway - the Stephanie Creekmur Coaster Set! I am so excited and can't wait until December 18th!

Last I heard (from a copy editor), out of the items I sent, they were planning to include the Sweet as a Peach print and the Southern Sayin' pencil set in the magazine (eeeek!). Now the waiting game begins! I'd appreciate a few prayers - not that I necessarily make it in the magazine (though while you're at it, might as well add that request!) but that no matter what happens I never lose sight of why I am able to do what I do. It's so much more than creating beautiful things and I hope we're able to do amazing things (like build a well!!) in 2014 as a result of this feature!

We just got a bunch of new product samples in so I'm off to snap a few photos! Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Updates for Stephanie Creekmur!

November 4, 2013
In February of this year, I went ugly early and I can honestly say it was the best thing I could have done for my business. Things will never be perfect and the longer you wait for perfect to show up, the longer you'll be waiting!

The thing about going "ugly early" is that you continue to evolve and grow. As I've said before, I don't have the luxury of putting the majority of my profit back into my business. I rely on sales to pay my bills so my budget for things like branding and web development are slim to none. This has been DIY branding all the way and I can honestly say I wouldn't have it any other way. If you follow me on Instagram (I know I say that a lot, but really - you get the scoop there first, folks!) I shared a little part of the brand board below and how at the start of this journey I was bummed it wasn't in the budget to hire a big fancy team to do my branding for me, but it's hard to imagine Stephanie Creekmur looking any other way. I love the elements I've created and am completely smitten by it every single day.

Shortly after the GUE announcement, I shared my very first brand board. As you can see in the updated version below, I have just continued to build off of the original when time or money allowed. I love the addition of the monogram and illustrated elements. Those were all things I wanted from the start so I'm extremely happy to have them added to the mix!

AND - later today we will (fingers crossed) be relaunching the website! We have been doing lots of behind the scenes (switching eCommerce platforms, etc.) work that will hopefully result in a better user experience! We will also be releasing new products later today as well as in the weeks to come! We're just so excited about it all and hope y'all will be too! Come back in just a bit - it's going to be great! ;)
